Paranormal author Jones and Santa Fe fantasy author Kennedy join together to sign their latest releases.

Albuquerque paranormal author Darynda Jones and Santa Fe fantasy author Jeffe Kennedy join forces 3:30 pm Saturday, May 30, to celebrate the start of summer at Page One Books with their latest releases.

Jones is promoting her eighth Charley Davidson paranormal effort, "Eighth Grave After Dark." Late last October, the seventh book - "Seventh Grave and No Body" - in her Albuquerque-based series was released. Kennedy's latest fantasy novel is "The Talon of the Hawk," the third book of her "Twelve Kingdoms" series. The second "Twelve Kingdoms" novel was released last November.

In Jones' "Eighth Grave After Dark," Charley Davidson has enough going on without having to worry about "12 hellhounds hot on her trail. She is, after all, incredibly pregnant and feeling like she could pop at any moment. But, just her luck, 12 deadly beasts from hell have chosen this time to escape onto our plane, and they've made Charley their target. And so she takes refuge at the only place she thinks they can't get to her: the grounds of an abandoned convent. Of course, if hellhounds aren't enough, Charley also has a new case to hold her attention: the decades-old murder of a newly-vowed nun she keeps seeing in the shadows of the convent. Add to that the still unsolved murder of her father, the strange behavior of her husband, and Charley's tendency to attract the, shall we say, undead, and she has her hands full…"

Kennedy's "The Talon of the Hawk" is teased as such: "Three daughters were born to High King Uorsin, in place of the son he wanted. The youngest, lovely and sweet. The middle, pretty and subtle, with an air of magic. And the eldest, the Heir. A girl grudgingly honed to leadership, not beauty, to bear the sword and honor of the king. Ursula’s loyalty is as ingrained as her straight warrior’s spine. She protects the peace of the Twelve Kingdoms with sweat and blood, her sisters from threats far and near. And she protects her father to prove her worth. But she never imagined her loyalty would become an open question on palace grounds. That her father would receive her with a foreign witch at one side and a hireling captain at the other—that soldiers would look on her as a woman, not as a warrior. She also never expected to decide the destiny of her sisters, of her people, of the Twelve Kingdoms and the Thirteenth."

Jones, a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, won a Golden Heart Award for best paranormal for her manuscript "First Grave On The Right." As a born storyteller, she grew up spinning tales of dashing damsels and heroes in distress for any unfortunate soul who happened by, annoying man and beast alike. Jones, the mother of two sons, recently moved from Portales to Albuquerque with her husband.

Kennedy is an award-winning author with a writing career that spans decades. Her works include non-fiction, poetry, short fiction, and novels. She has been a Ucross Foundation Fellow, received the Wyoming Arts Council Fellowship for Poetry, and was awarded a Frank Nelson Doubleday Memorial Award. Her essays have appeared in many publications, including "Redbook." She has written fantasy romance, contemporary BDSM and erotica. She lives in Santa Fe with her husband, two Maine coon cats and plentiful free-range lizards.

Page One Bookstore is located at 5850 Eubank Blvd NE, Suite B-41, in Albuquerque's Mountain Run Shopping Center (southeast corner of Eubank and Juan Tabo). The Jones and Kennedy event is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 294-2026 or visit
