Solo piano recital features works by Beethoven, Prokofiev, Liszt & Grieg

Celebrate the talent and dedication of 12 year old virtuoso pianist Anna Yakura with a solo recital in Keller Hall at the UNM Center for the Arts on Sunday, May 17 at 4:30 p.m.

Anna Yakura began taking piano lessons at age five. By eight, she performed her solo piano recital debut. Miss Yakura is a First Place winner of several piano competitions, including Dennis Alexander Piano Competition and State of New Mexico Honors Audition.

Her highlights include participating in the Golden Key Music Festival at Carnegie Hall, New York and the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation Festival in Moscow, Russia; performing with the Symphony Orchestra of Albuquerque and the New Mexico Philharmonic; and serving as a member of the 2013-2014 Albuquerque Junior Symphony. She currently studies under Dr. Tatiana Vetrinskaya, founder and director of the New Mexico School of Music.

A seventh grader at Eisenhower Middle School, Miss Yakura is also a competitive swimmer. She likes reading books and writing stories, and plays the violin in addition to the piano. Her May 17th program will feature works by Beethoven, Prokofiev, Liszt and Grieg. A reception follows the recital.
