A screening of Paco León's distinctive debut feature about larger-than-life mother Carmina Barrios. In Spanish with English subtitles.
Paco León's distinctive debut stars his larger-than-life mother, Carmina Barrios, in a comedy-drama that is part character study, part faux documentary, and part homage to the Andalucian picaresque tradition. As the film opens, Carmina, a 58-year-old bar owner, sits in her Seville kitchen chain-smoking and contemplating her life while feeding the goat that lives with her. The subsequent storyline is based on Carmina's attempts to make up for the money lost after 80 hams were stolen from her bar. Spanish with English subtitles.
2012; 70 minutes; not rated.
