A reading and signing with sci-fi author S.M. Stirling and five contributors from his new anthology.

Santa Fe science-fiction author S.M. Stirling, writer of the popular "Change" series, and five contributors to his new anthology will be at Page One Books 4:00 pm Saturday, June 27, to talk about and sign "The Change: Tales of Downfall and Rebirth."

In addition to editor Stirling, authors participating in the signing are Jane Lindskold, Emily Mah, Victor Milan, John Jos. Miller, and Lauren C. Teffeau.

The anthology is described as such: "Stirling’s 'New York Times' bestselling Change novels have depicted a vivid, utterly persuasive, and absorbingly unpredictable post-apocalyptic wasteland in which all modern technology has been left in ashes, forcing humankind to rebuild an unknowable new world in the wake of unimaginable — and deliberate — chaos. In this new anthology, Stirling invites the most fertile minds in science fiction to join him in expanding his rich Emberverse canvas. Here are inventive new perspectives on the cultures, the survivors, and the battles arising across the years and across the globe following the Change. In his all-new story 'Hot Night at the Hopping Toad,' Stirling returns to his own continuing saga of the High Kingdom of Montival. In the accompanying stories are fortune seekers, voyagers, and dangers—from the ruins of Sydney to the Republic of Fargo and Northern Alberta to Venetian and Greek galleys clashing in the Mediterranean. These new adventures revisit beloved people and places from Stirling’s universe, introduce us to new ones, and deliver endlessly fascinating challenges to conquer."

Stirling, who lives in Santa Fe, is a a writer by trade, born in France but Canadian by origin and American by naturalization. His hobbies are mostly related to the craft of writing — he loves history, anthropology and archaeology, and is interested in the sciences. The martial arts are his main physical hobby. Stirling novels include "The Sky People," "A Taint in the Blood," "Conquistador," "Island in the Sea of Time," and 2013's Change novel, "The Given Sacrifice."

Page One Books is located at 5850 Eubank Blvd NE, Suite B-41, in Albuquerque's Mountain Run Shopping Center southeast corner of Eubank and Juan Tabo). The Stirling & Crew event is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 294-2026 or visit
