Tonight's dance and concert will be the culminating event of the 2015 'Burque Blues Blowout.Join us to experience the pleasure of Blues idiom dance-a family of dances, with roots in African rhythms and movement blended with European social dance, that are aesthetically, culturally, and musically connected to the American experience. Damon Stone, one of the foremost authorities on Blues dance, and responsible for its revival in the twenty-first century, will be visiting from Minnesota and teaching a workshop earlier in the day to introduce new-comers and enrich already experienced dancers on this earth-centered, improvisational, rhythmic, and relaxed dance form. Information, including registration for the workshop, can be found on BurqueBlues.com, uniquely offering NM Blues dance instruction for Blues music fans since 2011.

Raven Rutherford takes the stage with her Sweet Potato Pie Band to play some real blues. Drawing from the traditional blues repertoire, Raven always puts on a high energy and authentic show!

Memphis P’Tails: When you talk about the Memphis P. Tails, you’re talking raw blues. The real blues. The roots. No pretense. No studio tricks, no glossy polish. Not “blues funk”, or any other sort of blues derivative. It's straight blues, no chaser. The sound is clean and hard-driving, with roots in the Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi Delta blues, with a little Chicago thrown in for good measure. This is a classic sound, a throwback to the true roots of blues and blues rock, and yet modern in its delivery and relevance. It is a sound so distinctive, so compelling, and so timeless, that it gets down to the bottom of your soul – and stays there. The blues is universal, and the P. Tails are masters of the genre. If you listen, you will be hooked.
