Melissa Cutler and Katie Lane read and sign their latest releases, Colton's Cowboy Code and Deep in the Heart of Texas, respectively.

San Diego author Melissa Cutler and Albuquerque author Katie Lane join forces 3:30 pm Saturday, September 12, to celebrate "Cowboy Romances" at Page One Books with their latest romantic releases. Cutler is promoting "Colton's Cowboy Code," part of her Coltons of Oklahoma series. She also is focusing on "How To Rope a Real Man: Catcher Creek Book 3," which is set in New Mexico. Last December, Lane's final "Deep in the Heart of Texas" novel, "The Last Cowboy in Texas," was released. In late September (after this signing event), she will have another in her holiday romance series released, "Unwrapped: Hunk for the Holidays Book 3."

In Cutler's "Colton's Cowboy Code," family secrets and a deadly stalker haunt The Coltons of Oklahoma. "Cowboy Brett Colton has reformed his bad-boy ways. And he has ambitious plans to transform the Lucky C ranch. Then he discovers that his one passion-filled night with gorgeous accountant Hannah Grayson resulted in pregnancy — an unexpected hiccup. Though excited by the prospect of fatherhood, Brett puts the brakes on romance. He is determined to bring Hannah and his unborn child into the family. But he doesn't anticipate the strong feelings he has for Hannah…or that he is putting her in danger. Because a vengeful phantom is targeting the Coltons."

Lane's "The Last Cowboy in Texas" is teased as such: "Country music princess Starlet Brubaker has a sweet tooth for moon pies and cowboys: both are yummy-and you can never have just one. Now Beckett Cates may not be a cowboy, but he certainly has the heart, soul - and body - to whet her appetite. He's a sexy ex-Marine with a touch hotter than the scorching Texas sun and arms strong enough to catch her when she lands into trouble. Playing bodyguard to America's sweetheart isn't easy for Beckett. But falling for her sure is. Unfortunately, Starlet has a reputation for keeping a guy or two wrapped around her finger and Beckett refuses to be anybody's backup. So now it's up to Starlet to prove that she's put her cowboy-crazy days behind her."

Cutler says she has the best job in the world, dividing her time between her dual passions for writing sexy contemporary romances and romantic suspense. She was struck at an early age by an unrelenting travel bug and is probably planning her next vacation as you read this. When she's not globetrotting, she's enjoying San Diego's flip-flop wearing weather and wrangling two rambunctious kids. Her other romance novels include "The Trouble with Cowboys: Catcher Creek 1," "The Temptation of Dr. Colton," and "Cowboy Justice: Catcher Creek 2."

Lane started writing in fifth grade when she wrote a fictional story about being a skirt(yes, you read that correctly. The story was told in first-skirt rather than first-person). Since then, she's stuck to telling stories about people. "Going Cowboy Crazy" was her first "Deep in the Heart of Texas" novel. She lives in Albuquerque with her high school sweetheart.

Page One Books is located at 5850 Eubank Blvd NE, Suite B-41, in Albuquerque's Mountain Run Shopping Center (southeast corner of Eubank and Juan Tabo). The Cutler and Lane event is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 294-2026 or visit
