Dovzhenko's Earth is universally considered one of the most important films of the Soviet era. The soundtrack was created by DakhaBrakha to accompany the new restoration.

Avokado Artists and the National Hispanic Cultural Center present the North American premiere of Aleksandr Dovzhenko's  (cinema's "poet of the Ukraine") restored classic 1930 film Earth, with a live scored accompaniment  by Ukraine's "Ambassadors of Ethnic Chaos" DakhaBrakha. The performance is a fundraising event for¡Globalquerque!, New Mexico's Annual Celebration of World Music and Culture's free programming and educational outreach.

The soundtrack was created by DakhaBrakha in 2012 at the request of the National Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Centre in Kiev, Ukraine, to accompany the Centre's new restoration of the film. DakhaBrakha will score the film LIVE at the NHCC screening, assuring a one-of-a-kind performance not to be missed!

Founded in 2004 by Vladyslav Troitskiy, the director of Kiev's avant-garde theatre Dakh, DakhaBrakha made their New Mexico debut at ¡Globalquerque!in 2013. Since then, the band has risen to the heights of world music and beyond, performing at festivals, performing arts centers, and stages across the planet. Never far from their avant-garde roots, the theatrical quartet of multi-instrumentalist singers has been experimenting with and mixing Ukrainian folk melodies and rhythms with Eastern European and Asian motifs, creating a wild, compelling, and unique "ethno-chaos."
