Who doesn't need a little poetry in their life? University of New Mexico alumna Tanaya Winder will be on hand at Bookworks to help you fill that hole with readings from her debut book, Words Like Love. Winder's collection explores relationships between people, places and Native identity, and has been called "a lovesong for a generation" by Joy Harjo, recipient of the 2015 Wallace Stevens Poetry Award.

A reading by poet Tanaya Winder who sings the joys, glories and laments of love.

In her debut collection, love is defined by familial, cultural, platonic, and romantic bonds in these emotional and thoughtfully rendered poems. Her voice traverses the darkness in a quest to learn more about the most complex of subjects.

Tanaya Winder is a writer, educator, and motivational speaker from the Southern Ute, Duckwater Shoshone, and Pyramid Lake Paiute Nations. She graduated from Stanford University and earned her MFA from the University of New Mexico. She is an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico and Director of the University of Colorado at Boulder Upward Bound Program.
