East Meets West—The Traveling Chinese Brush
Featuring the works of Nora Sanders. Sanders lived in China for 9 years where she studied traditional Chinese Brush Painting. Over time, she has transitioned to painting in a fusion of Eastern and Western styles, using watercolors, acrylics and inks. Runs through 2/27.
To celebrate the Chinese 'Year of the Monkey', Blue Lily Atelier hosts 'East Meets West: The Traveling Chinese Brush' in February, featuring the works of Nora Sanders. Sanders lived in China for 9 years where she studied traditional Chinese Brush Painting. Over time, she has transitioned to painting in a fusion of Eastern and Western styles, using watercolors, acrylics and inks.
At 5 pm, the artist will demonstrate painting of traditional Chinese flowers such as bamboo, orchid and chrysanthemum as well as an eclectic mix of East meets West.
In addition, at 6 pm, Ming Franz will demonstrate painting of peony, wisteria, lotus blossom and monkey, the Chinese zodiac animal for 2016. Franz is a prominent artist and educator who has studied has studied in both her native Taiwan and the U.S with masters of traditional Chinese painting. She specializes in splash color painting, which combines watercolor techniques with Chinese ink and brush.
Chinese tea and light snacks will be served during the reception. The show is on display from February 3 through February 27.
