New Mexico Jazz Workshop presents concerts of jazz, blues and salsa. Music by Combo Unica.
The evening skies over Albuquerque should glow more brightly than ever this summer as the New Mexico Jazz Workshop marks its 40th year by presenting a colorful and exciting series of concerts “Under the Stars” at the Albuquerque Museum’s spacious amphitheater, 2000 Mountain Road NW.
The weekly amalgam of jazz, blues and salsa, which runs from June 3 through August 13, is ranging farther afield this year with a number of groups from out of state set to complement the established troupe of local artists who reappear from summer to summer to charm and entice their devoted audiences.
All shows are held at the Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater (2000 Mountain Road NW, Albuquerque, NM)
Doors open at 6:30 pm. Children 12 and under are free.
Based in San Diego, CA, Orquesta Bi-Nacional de Mambo is an 18-piece band dedicated to performing and promoting Latin big band music from the 1950's to the present. The band's dazzling performances celebrate a wide range of musical styles including mambo, bolero, cha-cha, salsa, and other forms of Latin Jazz. Led by versatile trumpeter Bill Caballero, Orquesta Bi-Nacional de Mambo features some of the best cross-cultural musicians from the San Diego-Tijuana border region. The band's sizzling live shows have gained them a devoted following and reputation for passion and authenticity. Since its inception in 2000, the band has performed for the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, the San Diego Latino Film Festival, the San Diego Museum of Art, the California Center for the Performing Arts in Escondido, the Adams Avenue Street Fair, the Centro Cultural de Tijuana, Tijuana's Casa de la Cultura, Dizzy's, and the KSDS Jazz Live radio program.
