Wonders of the WeaversAlbuquerque Museum Curator of History, Deb Slaney, tells the remarkable story of 19th century Rio Grande weavings, including those on exhibit at Casa. For the Hispanic settlers of 19th century Nuevo México, weaving was an important part of everyday life. Even though these textiles were created to serve an immediate utilitarian function, they reveal a high degree of artistic vision and an attention to detail and design. Learn about the textiles and the weavers in this richly illustrated program.Demonstrations and hands-on activities in weaving and fiber arts will happen throughout the afternoon.
