What has 429 legs and slobbers all over? The 143 Chihuahuas and chi-mixes that are racing this Saturday, Aug. 20, starting at 8:45am and going till 5pm for the Running of the Chihuahuas at Balloon Fiesta Park. With over 10 races, inflatable jumpers, a beer garden, face painting, best costumed dog (any breed) and a dog and owner look-alike contest (any breed), this looks like the event of the year to me. Tickets are $10-$15 for general entry and to enter the contests. To put your tiny guard dog in the race costs $35. I can tell you one thing: All the animals here will win Cutest Dag Evar in my book. 2nd Annual Running of the Chihuahuas returns to Albuquerque on August 20, 2016! In our first year, 143 chihuahuas and chi mixes raced to stardom! This year we are coming back even bigger and better!

$500 in prizes!
All breed contests for Best Costume and Doggie/owner lookalike. Portion of proceeds to benefit Paws and Stripes. Dogs must be current on vaccinations and leashed when not racing. Unruly dogs will be asked to leave; all owners must pick up after pets.
The first 100 chihuahuas to register for the races receive a sWAG bag!
