49 Tips and Insights for Understanding Addiction

Juan Blea, licensed drug abuse counselor, will be at Page One Books 6:30 pm Thursday, August 4, to talk about and sign his nonfiction effort, "49 Tips and Insights for Understanding Addiction."

The book is described as such: "'49 Tips and Insights for Understanding Addiction' provides both a rich set of writings and exercises that can help people understand the emotional and physical mechanics of both Addiction and Recovery. This book challenges the reader to approach Addiction from a place of compassion rather than anger so that the trigger/anxiety/compulsion/shame cycle of Addiction can be disrupted. This important addition to the arsenal of weapons to fight Addiction presents information that will help the reader understand: The mechanics of Substance Abuse & Addiction; The inner struggle that an addict faces; How our own perceptions of substances inform and guide recovery; How compassion can disrupt the shame/anxiety cycle."

Blea is a licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse counselor who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and a Master's degree in Education. He is author of three additional books, "Butterfly Warrior," "Journey to Aztlan," and "A Model for Contextual Leadership." Blea lives and works in Santa Fe.
