In Reverence of the Sacred Mothership
Dance, film and music performances by local Native artists celebrating the woman as a vessel of free thought and expression.
Featuring: "Sweet n Lowe" a new short film by Felicia Nez. Dance, Film and Music performances by local Native artists. Mothership art installation and performance piece by Tyisha Mitchell and many more!
This multi-media collaborative artistic showcase is intended to capture the essence of the woman as not only as a mother, a leader of her people, but also as a vessel of free thought and expression. Since colonization, Indigenous women have had to fit themselves into the roles set by the dominate non-Indigenous culture. Such roles have known to be paired in suffrage and restrictions and the intent of this show is to provide the visual stimulus reminding our women of the beauty in their rarity and the power in their being. This message will be expressed through a series of artisitic installations. Performance and artistic expression will be the motive of this show and the submissions are not limited to the female sex. This will be a gender-neutral event in celebration of the mothering body and spirit."
This is an all ages event. Food trucks will be on site.
