Albuquerque Urban Bird Treaty Signing Celebration
Officials sign and recognize the migratory bird conservation and education accomplishments to date under a two-year grant. See birds like hummingbirds, a turkey vulture and a great horned owl.
City officials and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will officially sign a treaty designating Albuquerque as an Urban Bird Treaty City. This event will recognize the migratory bird conservation and education accomplishments to date in Albuquerque under a two-year Urban Migratory Treaty grant, and will celebrate the renewed commitment of partners to continue work in Albuquerque for migratory birds beyond the grant.
There is expected to be the opportunity for dignitaries to release rescued hummingbirds and kestrels. Also at the event will be a turkey vulture and great horned out from a local wildlife rehabilitation organization used for educational purposes.
