Oil paintings of natural landscapes by Alan Paine Radebaugh and John G. Garrett along with colorful and abstract works by Frank McCulloch. Runs through 10/27.

The artists have curated this exhibit with new work from 2016 as part of Harwood Art Center’s 25th year anniversary and celebration.

A Sense of Place: John Garrett & Alan Paine Radebaugh

The natural environment provides content and inspiration to both artists. For structures, forms and materials, John Garrett has drawn on the Organ Mountains and desert close to his home in Las Cruces.  For his images, Alan Paine Radebaugh has driven hundreds of miles through Canadian tundra to Inuvik, Northwest Territories and the Arctic Ocean.

 A Retrospective: Frank McCulloch

This exhibition offers a glimpse into Frank McCulloch’s career over a period of 50 years. It illustrates McCulloch’s movement from realism to eventual abstraction and back again. We see his affection for the vast Southwest landscape–especially it’s magical light and ethereal atmosphere, in his use of color. Throughout his transformative journey as an artist McCulloch always arrives back at the simplified landscape, even during his more abstract periods.
