An archaeology-inspired art exibit and video highlights of the society's history.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Albuquerque Archaeological Society. We are celebrating on October 22, 2016, from 1-4 in the afternoon, at the Albuquerque Open Space Visitor’s Center. The Albuquerque Archaeological Society has been advocating for the preservation of archaeological and other cultural resources since its foundation in 1966. Today, that advocacy continues as the AAS informs members and the general public about archaeological and ethnological subjects through meetings, presentations, newsletters and electronic media, field trips, volunteer efforts, field surveys, and studies.

We will be celebrating 50 years of society activity with music by the Milo Jaramillo Trio, refreshments, an archaeology-inspired art exhibit by Albuquerque fourth graders, and video highlights of the society’s history.

We will also have the following informative displays and activities: The Maxwell Museum; Rock art recording in New Mexico; All about potsherds; Ask an archeologist; AAS publications.

Sign up for field trips* to Tijeras Pueblo and Piedras Marcadas to be held on Sunday October 23, weather permitting. *Attendees will be able to sign up for four guided field trips (limited to 20 participants each; our field trips are usually limited to members only, but in celebration of our anniversary, the trips this weekend are open to the public)

Come join us!
