Local authors Anna Redsand and Dr. Rich Wood discuss their newest books.

On Sunday, October 23 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., St. Andrew Presbyterian will host a book forum featuring authors Anna Redsand and Dr. Rich Wood, UNM professor of Sociology.

Ms. Redsand’s book, To Drink for the Silver Cup: From Faith Through Exile and Beyond,  describes her journey as “a young lesbian, raised by missionaries, in Navajo Country, walking away from everything she loved to be herself, while she longed for home.”  She tells of her moving through differing spiritual and political experiences, seeking authenticity and a community that could embrace all that she is.

Dr. Wood’s book, Faith-based Organizing for Racial Equity and Ethical Democracy, looks at the challenges and promises of community organizing to rebuild American democracy on a multi-faith, multiracial basis.  The book just won the 2016 Best Book Award from the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action.

Please join us for this exciting panel discussion and questions, opportunity to meet the authors and enjoy coffee and cookies.
