Third Annual Acequia Celebration and Fun Run

Running Water

I've often said our most valuable resource is children and the future they represent. Next in line would probably be water. We live in a desert for God's sake! No one's supposed to live in a desert. You can show your appreciation for kids and water this weekend at the Third Annual Acequia Celebration and Fun Run by pumping those pistons and dropping some respect. All proceeds will go to the Center For Social Sustainable Systems' Cultivando Nuestro Futuro Leadership Institute, dedicated to raising future community leaders who have been taught to honor local traditions and preserve ways of life connected to our water and land. For spectators, $15 is the suggested donation but to participate on the 1k or 5k, it's $25 for adults. (Joshua Lee)

Support a benefit for a small South Valley organization that aims to protect and preserve ways of life and local traditions in our community.

Join us for the 3rd Annual CESOSS Acequia Celebration & Fun Run. Donations from this run/walk will be used to support our CESOSS Cultivando Nuestro Futuro Leadership Institute.

The main purpose of this institute is to take a proactive role in the development of new generations of leaders in our communities. We support our emerging community leaders in developing an action plan aimed at addressing and understanding issues that impact New Mexican communities (e.g. water rights; land; health disparities; food justice; environmental justice; educational equity; etc.). We also integrate the importance of legislation and local policy development into our institute.

Come out and support a local cause that will benefit our small South Valley organization that aims to protect and preserve ways of life and local traditions in our community.

Fun Run & Walk Logistics:

This is NOT a competitive race! There will be a 1K and a 5K option that you can either run or walk. The route takes place along the Armijo acequia in the South Valley.

During this event we honor the work and dedication of local acequier@s. This will take place immediately after the run. There will also be arts and crafts for the kids, local speakers, poets, and more. Join us for this community event!
