Generation Beyond: Mars Experience Bus

Mars in a Handbasket

If you'd have told me we'd be sending kids to Mars on a bus 10 years ago, I'd have said you were crazy. But here we are. The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History is hosting Lockheed Martin's Generation Beyond: Mars Experience Bus, a full-sized school bus that uses with virtual reality tech to give passengers on a VR tour of the red planet. Experience 200 square miles of Mars displayed on the bus' windows to give your whole family the sensation that they're really on another planet this weekend, Oct. 29 and 30, 9am to 5pm. The tour is included with museum admission which is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $10 for kids 6-17 and free for kiddos under 5. (Joshua Lee)

Kids experience travelling to Mars in a virtual reality bus, taking a tour along the surface of the Red Planet.

The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History invites the public to Lockheed Martin's Generation Beyond: Mars Experience Bus, an out-of-this-world experience that provides the opportunity to “travel” to Mars in a virtual reality bus, taking a tour along the surface of the Red Planet. The Mars Experience Bus is a standard school bus retrofitted with virtual reality technology that replicates 200 square miles of Martian landscape and displays it in the bus's windows, giving riders the sensation they are moving along the Red Planet's surface.

This event will take place on Saturday, October 29, and Sunday, October 30, from 9 am to 5 pm each day. This event is included with paid museum admission.
