Rossini's story of chivalry, honor, and tragic love.

Opera Southwest Presents Rossini's Tancredi

This Sicilian story of chivalry, honor, and tragic love was at one time the most popular opera in all of Europe – find out why at Opera Southwest.

The story revolves around two powerful families, who, like the houses of Capulet and Montague, have a long-standing feud. Against a backdrop of the ever-present threat of Saracen invasion, a complicated romance develops between the exiled soldier Tancredi and the beautiful Amenaide. When Amenaide is sentenced to death for a crime she did not commit, a disguised Tancredi fights to defend both love and honor.

One of Rossini’s most flawlessly lyrical works, Tancredi showcases Rossini’s supreme concern for pure beauty of vocal sound. You will thrill to an incredible cast of OSW favorites, including Heather Johnson in the title role. Led by the able hands of OSW Artistic Director and noted Rossini conductor Anthony Barrese, Tancredi is an opera you won’t want to miss!
