Learn about the diverse settlers and their contributions to local history.

The New Mexico Territory attracted a colorful medley of characters that created the city of Albuquerque. The Albuquerque Historical Society, established in 1947, offers a FREE downtown walking tour that explores our very diverse settlers and their contributions to our history.

Wear comfortable shoes and allow two hours for the tour, which starts at 10:00 AM every Saturday. You will walk along Central Avenue from 1st St. to 8th St. Reservations are not necessary, except for groups over five people or if you would like to schedule a weekday tour. The tour meets on the corner of First Street and Central Avenue, near Century Theater. Parking on Central is not monitored on Saturdays. Call (505)289-0586 for information or to arrange for your special tour time. The tour includes entrances to historic buildings, so we ask that you leave pets at home. The FREE walking tours are ongoing until November 18, which is the last tour for the season.
