Cash Me Painting Wit Hot Wax. Howbow Dah?
Bruh, do you even know what encaustic painting is? Lemme fill you in: Encaustic comes from a Greek word meaning “to heat or burn.” It's an ancient method of painting utilizing hot wax and dammar resin with colored pigments. Each layer is melted to fuse with new layers, which is time-consuming but results in a stunning effect. If you're intrigued, you're in luck because the Museum of Encaustic Art is opening on Saturday, March 11, in Santa Fe. Over 300 works of art have been collected to fill the gallery walls. There will be a ribbon-cutting at 10am and entrance to this colorful event will cost $0-$8.
