Documentary on the politics behind a corrupt food system and sustainable alternatives created by small farmers. Followed by a Q and A session with the director, Katie Curran.
The Guild Cinema presents two screenings of the award-winning feature documentary, Greening the Revolution (80 min), followed by a Q&A with the director, on March 18th and 19th at 1pm (tickets are $5 Students and $10 General Admission). This independent documentary about food justice was filmed in Mexico, Cuba, Haiti, Kenya, Zambia, India, Brazil and across the United States, focusing on the unjust politics and economics behind a corrupt food system, while also showing examples of inspiring resistance and the creation of sustainable alternatives by small farmers. Winner of Best Female Filmmaker at Oaxaca International Film Festival, Best Documentary at Fort Lauderdale IFF and Environmental Series Premiereat the Newport Beach IFF. The showings are supported by UNM's Initiative for Food Justice and the national Food and Water Watch and serve as a vehicle to spread awareness about our global food system, as well as fundraise for the next production from Anartist Films, a documentary about justice for women from the efforts of grassroots social movements.
