The world-class chamber chorus Coro Lux, under the direction of Bradley Ellingboe, performs Brahms’ German ballad.
CORO LUX TO PERFORM BRAHMS’ REQUIEM ON APRIL 8 & 9
Pianists are Mary Ann Ybarra and Maribeth Gunning. Alexis Corbin is timpanist. Vocal soloists are Rebecca Brunette and Alfredo Beltran.
Brahms Requiem is meant to be of comfort to the living, rather than a dirge for the dead. As he composed it, foremost in his mind was the death of his beloved mother, as well as his friend and mentor, Robert Schumann.
This will be a performance of the so-called “London version,” arranged for two pianos and timpani by the composer himself and first performed in London in 1871.
Coro Lux is an internationally acclaimed world-class chamber chorus based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, under the direction of Conductor Bradley Ellingboe. They have recently performed in Carnegie Hall.
