On Saturday, April 1st, longtime Albuquerque resident Martha Heard will celebrate her 80th birthday with a large cake and the opening reception of her first one-person exhibit, “Looking Around: Photographs and Narratives”, at Art Gallery 606 in Albuquerque.

On exhibit are photographs of people, places, and things gleaned from Martha’s three years (1958-61) living in Baghdad, Iraq, her part time residency in Càlig, Spain since 1978, and extensive travels in Greece, Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, India, China, Tibet, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, and the United States during her lifetime. Along with the photographs are Martha’s posted stories for gallery visitors to share in her adventures.

The April 1 opening reception is from 5-8pm, at Art Gallery 606, located at 606 Broadway SE (at Iron), Albuquerque, 87102. Refreshments and birthday cake will be served. “Looking Around: Photographs and Narratives” continues through April 28 with regular gallery viewing hours  Wed–Sat, 1–6pm, and by appointment.
