Kids learn about creating patterns.

Do you have a student interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)? Maybe they are interested in Architecture, Urban Planning, or Industrial Design? Does thinking and working like a designer sound interesting? Maybe you just want to find something new and interesting to do on a Saturday morning.

Indigo Moose and Design Plus Architects are excited to announce a new series of Saturday Studios that combine art, design, science, and engineering using hands-on projects. They are meant to be fun and creative with a new theme every Saturday, and maybe learn something interesting about our natural, built, or social environments!

Many designers find inspiration from the patterns all around them—from the veins on a leaf, or within wood grains or ripples in water. These patterns often appear as textiles on the items we use every day like our shoes, clothing and furniture.

In this studio, students will learn pattern design principles in order to make their own textile design! We will then use this design to create our own custom pair of shoes, hats or canvas tote bags.

Please register on our wesbite,, by 7PM on Friday, May 19. Walk-ins are also welcome!

Recommended for grades six to ten. Please contact us if your child is interested but outside of the age range.
