Esteban Ismael Duran coverts old, weathered wood furniture into abstract wall sculptures. Dan Geist explores the beauty of the Southwestern landscape in his platinum and silver prints.

Esteban Ismael Duran scours the alleys, dumpsters and other peoples’ yards to find old, weathered wood furniture to create abstract wall sculptures. Each finished construction is a study in form with an emphasis on giving “new life” to a natural element.  Influences include the artworks of Louise Nevelson and Betty Parsons.

Dan Geist explores the beauty of the Southwestern landscape in his platinum and silver prints. Geist produced these prints in the 1980’s and became totally immersed in their richness, exquisite detail and exceptionally long tonal scale.  Platinum prints came into general use around 1880. Paul Strand, Alfred Stieglitz and Edward Weston all printed with platinum. By placing the negative directly on the paper the platinum emulsion actually goes into the paper causing the print to appear three- dimensional.
