Curanderismo: Traditional Medicine without Borders

This popular annual summer class is celebrating 17 years on the University of New Mexico – Main Campus!
Hundreds of people have experienced this two-week journey provided by local and Mexican traditional healers known as curanderos/as. Through demonstrations and hands-on activities, this class delivers information on the history, traditions, rituals, herbs, and remedies of Curanderismo, a folk healing tradition of the Southwestern United States.
The class is offered as both a credit and non-credit option. UNM students can register via their MyUNM portal and earn 3 credit hours toward their degree through several departments (cost is current price per credit hour + $50 lab fee). Those wishing to take the course as non-credit or for CEUs can sign up through UNM Continuing Education (cost is $300 +$50 lab fee).
