Recipe For People Soup
Take Truth or Consequences' hot springs flowing at 3.5 cubic feet per second—heated to around 100 degrees Fahrenheit; throw in 38 trace elements; add a keynote lecture on treating inflammation; stir in some live music, art shows and alternative health workshops; add people of all ages, at no charge; let simmer between Friday and Sunday, May 12-14, in beautiful T or C, making sure to stir often. Never ask yourselves who would want to make people soup. (It's aliens, probably!)

THE HOT SPRINGS FESTIVAL ROCKS TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, NM, THE SECOND WEEKEND IN MAY
Kick off summer with a bang-up weekend in Truth or Consequences, NM. Long popular as a hot-water spa destination, Truth or Consequences will offer an extra-special reason to visit in May: the Hot Springs Festival, scheduled for May 12 through 14.
Organized by MainStreet Truth or Consequences, the Hot Springs Festival is a jam-packed celebration of healthy lifestyles, alternative medicine and sustainable living. Starting with a drumming ceremony Friday night and concluding on Sunday afternoon with a sustainable building tour, a lineup of instructional workshops, thought-provoking lectures, live art demonstrations, diverse music offerings, recreational activities and personal-care sessions with a spectrum of healing arts practitioners offer nonstop fun. Most of the festival events are free.
Children are welcome, as there will be hands-on activities for them, and an opportunity—new this year—to go tent camping along the Rio Grande in T or C’s tree-shaded Ralph Edwards Park.
The keynote lecture, scheduled for Saturday morning, is a must-attend event for everyone. Sunil Pai, M.D., the author of An Inflammation Nation: The Definitive 10-Step Guide to Preventing and Treating all Diseases through Diet, Lifestyle, and the Use of Natural Anti-Inflammatories, will discuss how the foods and products one consumes daily adversely affect one’s health and share his knowledge of natural, evidence-based treatments.
Three other events taking place concurrently in town—Film Fiesta; a recycled art exhibit at Geronimo Spring Museum; and T or C’s Second-Saturday Art Hop featuring open houses at downtown galleries and shops from 6 to 9 p.m.—expand the already-rich array of options available to Festival goers.
