PNM is proposing a future energy resource portfolio that would eliminate the company’s use of coal-fired generation by the end of 2031. This proposal is explained in an integrated resource plan (IRP), which is a very detailed report about the costs and benefits of changing the company’s energy mix. Public input and comments on this draft report are still being accepted as part of the ongoing IRP process, which culminates in a final document to be filed with the PRC by July 3, 2017.

Because this decision affects all New Mexicans, PNM will conduct a series of "whistle stop" meeting in Albuquerque to give residents a chance to weigh in with their thoughts about the future of energy in New Mexico and to learn more about how the IRP process works.
