Crafts, outdoor activities and experiments offered to deepen knowledge of the natural world.
June's theme is Plants and Pollinators - Discover the flowers in bloom and Bachechi and get to know the pollinators that make them possible through scavenger hunts, observations and experiments. Learn to identify your favorite flowers, then cut it open to see what's inside, or track a pollinator from plant to nest.
June 4- Help real scientists collect data by making simple observations about the flowers blooming around Bachechi. Learn about how transpiration (how plants make water!) with a simple experiment, then make ID tags for your favorite plants and put them outside where everyone can see.
June 11- Identify as many plants as you can with our Bachechi Bingo game, then help make a garden of unwanted items and recyclables. Inside, use special tools to look inside a flower and see what the buzzis about.
June 18- Use the iNaturalist app and your senses to make observations about what’s blooming at Bachechi. Inside, build seed shakers that can come alive, then go plant them in a special place that you can return to.
June 25- Use our microscope and magnifying glasses plus your senses to compare different types of seeds. Make your own seed paper, or write on ours and plant it at home. Outside, make a map of the different scents you smell along the trails.
