11th Annual Lavender in the Village Festival
Useful Pretties
What if I told you that lavender can be used to make paper, industrial construction materials, rope, fuel and dietary supplements? Well, it can't, but isn't smelling nice and looking pretty enough? Why does everything need 20 uses before you kids pay attention? The good folks organizing the 11th Annual Lavender Festival understand this, and celebrate the flower despite its inherent uselessness. This Saturday, July 15, lavender lovers of all ages are invited to join the celebration at the Los Ranchos Agri-Nature Center, where there will be live music, free yoga classes, a kids' camp, wellness seminars, cooking demonstrations and artisans offering … wait a minute … lavender paintings, pies, spices, lotions, beer and wine? There are other uses for lavender? Who would've guessed? Tickets cost $8 for adults and $3 for kids 4-12. Parking is free. (Oh! It makes tea, too.)
Live music, yoga classes, a kids camp, wellness seminars, cooking demonstrations and 70 artisans offering everything from lavender bouquets to lavender paintings, pies, spices, lotions, beer, and wine.
