Museum of Encuastic Art: Global Warming is Real
Discover the Art of Wax. National juried exhibition-GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL- Opening reception, Sat. July 1, 10-5PM. The exhibition runs through Aug 20. Juried art work from a national base of ecaustic/art artists, have turned to the topic, most on our minds. As scientific reports and photos document the changes in our earth's atmosphere, we become sensitized to how global warming impacts us now and in the future. The creative interpretation of over fifty selected arts, are at the heart of this exhibition. The diversity, not only of the medium itself, but of the artists' creativity makes this exhibiton one not to be missed.
The juror, Garrett Smith, resides in Albuquerque is a licensed architect with his firm Garrett Smith ltd. and has won design award locally, nationally, and internationally. He has exhibited his art in NM and Italy. Smith has taught design at the University of NM and lectured in Switzerland and UC Berkly. He currently is chair of the selection committee for the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History Foundation and for the "Miniatures and More" annual exhibit for the past four years.
The Museum of Encaustic Art is under the umbrella of the Encaustic Art Institute, a 501C3 non-profit. Along with the museum's global warming exhibition there are over 100 samples of EAI members works for sale and NFS. Located at 632 Agua Fria, Santa Fe. Museum hours are 10-5 Tues through Sunday.
