A native of Houston, Texas, Horace Alexander Young moved to Santa Fe to Chair the Contemporary Music Program at Santa Fe University of Art and Design. A recording and touring artists who is equally gifted as a multi-instrumentalist (woodwinds, keyboards and percussion), vocalist, and composer/arranger, Young has performed with everyone from Sam Lightnin' Hopkins and B.B. King to The McCoy Tyner Big Band, Aretha Franklin and Youssou N'Dour. Performing with him tonight will be pianist, John Rangel, drummer John Trentacosta, and bassist TBA. "One of New York's shining voices, a writer of music and stories who weaves magic" (Metromedia Radio), vocalist Andrea Wolper makes her Outpost debut with an east-meets-west band featuring bassist Ken Filiano from New York, and Santa Fe's John Rangel and John Trentacosta. Finding inspiration in everyone from Richard Rodgers to Rumi, Carol King to Duncan Sheik, and Abbey Lincoln to Edgar Allen Poe, Wolper performs reimagined classics, new standards and blues, plus her own originals.
