New Mexico Jazz Festival: Davina and the Vagabonds
High-energy, Latin American wind and percussion band Banda Atómica opens for the deeply soulful and jazz-inspired band.
Filled with New Orleans charm, Memphis soul swagger, dark theatrical moments that evoke Kurt Weill, and tender gospel passages, Davina And The Vagabonds, have, over the past several years, created a stir on the national music scene with their high-energy live shows and they continue to build an enthusiastic fan base around the globe.
Singer/pianist, Davina Sowers' indelible presence and her voice defy simple categorization. Evoking comparisons as diverse as Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Billie Holiday and Betty Boop, she is a true original, presenting a personal vision that celebrates a century of American music. This is their second Bandstand appearance.
