"How to Design and Build a 12-inch Travel Telescope" - Alan Scott
Following our short monthly meeting of the Society, our featured speaker will go into great detail on how he created a large telescope that can be transported in checked luggage on an airplane and weighs at or under 44 pounds--a very challenging, but ultimately successful, project.
This lecture will describe the process of creating an ultra light, ultra compact telescope, the "Deep Space Trill". This includes setting goals, creating designs and building the telescope....design trade-offs will be discussed. Alan will finish by setting up the 12" telescope from parts stored in a medium size suit case. This telescope was taken to Australia to the OzSky Star Party and used for a week there.
Alan will answer questions from the audience-- and, of course, display this impressive accomplishment!
