Roman and his Stradivarius cello accompanied by pianist Guilles Vonsattel perform works from Beethoven and Brahms.


Don't miss the second of our 2017-2018 Concert Recital series featuring Ted Senior Fellow Joshua Roman, one of the most outstanding cellists of his generation. Roman has earned an international reputation for his wide-ranging repertoire, a commitment to communicating the essence of music in visionary ways, artistic leadership, and versatility. As well as being a celebrated performer, he is recognized as an accomplished composer and curator. Joining Roman and his Stradivarius cello will be pianist Guilles Vonsattel, recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant and winner of the Naumburg and Geneva competitions as well as the 2016 Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award.


These two phenomenal artists will perform Beethoven’s Sonata in C Major for Cello and Piano, op.102, No. 1, Brahms’s Sonata in F Major for Cello and Piano, op.99, Janacek’s Pohádka for Cello and Piano,
