FlyerWant to learn to build a web app with Ruby on Rails? Have background with PHP or HTML and ready to go further?

This beginner class will take you through a number of parts of Rails. You'll learn about REST, model-view-controller patterns, routing (the foundation of SEO) sending email and database migrations. In this class, we'll build a blog and illustrate all these parts through that process.

This class will be taught in two parts (Cost includes both dates)

• September 9, 2017 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm 

• September 16, 2017 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

 

PREREQUISITES & TECH REQUIREMENTS 

 

• Your laptop. (Please note: A netbook or tablet is not a substitute.) You really need either

• Mac with Brew

• Linux  

• Windows 10 with the Linux Subsystem

•  A modern browser with either Chrome and the "Web Developer" extension or Firefox and Firebug installed.

• A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text 3 (It's free and available for both Mac and PC). (If you don't have a modern browser and text editor, it may take 20 minutes to install prior to class. Please come prepared.)

• You should be comfortable at a command line.  

• We are NOT assuming you know Ruby coming into this.
