Original compositions showcasing an inventive approach to post-bop jazz.

Guitarist, keyboardist, and multi-instrumentalist Kurt Rosenwinkel came to prominence in the 1990s, after studying for two years at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and subsequently being invited to tour with legendary vibraphonist Gary Burton.  Awarded a Composer's Award from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1995, Rosenwinkel, always the maverick, has only deepened his individualistic sound over the past 25 years.  "A gifted performer with a fluid, harmonically rich approach to genre-bending jazz and rock" (Matt Collar, All Music), Rosenwinkel has released many critically acclaimed recordings, including those from the early the 2000s which centered on his original compositions that showcased his highly inventive approach to post-bop jazz.  Also during this period, he relocated to Germany, where split his time between performing and teaching as a professor of jazz guitar at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler. Rosenwinkel has collaborated with his peers including Brad Mehldau, Brian Blade, Mark Turner, Joshua Redman, Chris Potter; as well as with jazz elders like Joe Henderson, Paul Motian, and Gary Burton. In 2017, he founded his own record label, Heartcore. The first release will be his own Brazilian-influenced recording, Caipi, which features Rosenwinkel on almost all of the instruments, including guitar and piano as well as overdubbing on bass, synth, and drums. The new label is dedicated to "the release of high quality music, regardless of genre or style," and Rosenwinkel's vision is "to create a brand under which can exist the highest level music from wherever it is discovered. Ultimately a recognition and celebration of the fact that we are all together in this world and we must come together in spirit." The quartet comprises Kurt Rosenwinkel, guitar;  Pedro Martins, guitar, synth, voice; Frederico Heliodoro, Bass; & Bill Campbell, drums.
