Cinderella Story

Carol Rosegg
A Scene from Cinderella

Everyone knows the story of Cinderella; it's been adapted from folk tale to film, theater and television, too. Award-winning American musical composers Rodgers and Hammerstein adapted the story of a glass pump-shod, pumpkin-riding princess-to-be for teevee in the late '50s. In 2013, Broadway masterminds took the songs from that show and crafted them around a new production of the fable. Tony awards and two national tours resulted from that stroke of musical genius and now you can see Cinderella, as written by two masters of the American stage and directed by Gina Rattan and choreographed by Lee Wilkins. The timeless musical—complete with a live orchestra, awesome theatrical effects and wonderful singing—arrives at UNM's Popejoy in January for six performances from Thursday, Jan. 4 through Sunday, Jan. 7. Showtime is at 7:30pm on Thursday, 8pm on Friday, with two performances on Saturday, at 2pm and 8pm and on Sunday at 1pm and 6:30pm. Tickets are $35 to $100 for this magical event.
