“From the Kentucky Coal Mine to the California Sun”

Kris Kristofferson

Sometimes the casino circuit yields some pretty fancy fruit. Take the summer of 2014, when I saw Steely Dan and Yes at the Route 66 Casino's Legends Theater. Despite darling distractions like this past summer's Queensrÿche show or the past weekend's KISS ARMY love-in, it's always worth checking out this casino's calendar because Legends, amirite? Lucky listeners can hit the jackpot on Friday, Nov. 3, when total living legend, notable scenster and post-hep, singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson visits the venue. Kristofferson is a Rhodes Scholar who served as an Airborne Ranger, and then decided he wanted to write some country-western music. After moving to Nashville and struggling for a few years, he wrote a little ditty called “Me and Bobby McGee,” and the rest is history folks ... Oh and he's also a three-time Grammy winner and big ol' movie star too; that ought to be worth the price of admission ($29 to $65), all on it's own. (August March)
