Black Mantra

Black Mantra

Join the city's first poet laureate, regional and national slam poetry champion, founder of Beyond Poetry LLC and all around local treasure, Hakim Bellamy this Friday, Nov. 3, for a multimedia performance that addresses institutionalized racism and violence and how that has impacted the experience of being a black man in the US today. The multi-faceted piece is titled Black Mantra. Bellamy's wisdom and words are well worth the $15 ticket to enter the doors of the African American Performing Arts Center, which open at 7:30pm for this one-time event. (Maggie Grimason)
