Experienced singer and actors, and beginners who wish to gain experience in acting, singing and dancing audition for Sister Act. Go online for list of requirements.

SISTER ACT THE MUSICAL AUDITION CALL

Strong need for experienced singer/actors, but also opportunities for beginners who wish to gain experience in acting/singing/dancing.

The production team for SISTER ACT is as follows:

Albuquerque Little Theatre will be holding auditions for the musical production, SISTER ACT on the weekend of December 16 & 17.

Saturday, 12/16, individual vocal auditions scheduled from 10AM-2PM; Group choreography auditions will be from 3PM-5PM.

Sunday, 12/17, individual vocal auditions scheduled from 10AM-2PM; Group choreography auditions will be from 4PM-6PM.

PLEASE SPECIFY IF YOU NEED A SPECIFIC VOCAL AUDITION TIME IN YOUR REGISTRATION EMAIL

Auditioners must attend the choreography audition on the same day of their vocal audition.

Auditions will be held in the 2nd story rehearsal room at ALT, 224 San Pasquale SW, Albuquerque, NM 87104.

Please email auditions@abqliltheatre.org with your name, age, acting resume (or list of performance experience), a headshot (or recent photo), and contact information (phone number and email address). After receiving your email, you will be given a time slot for your audition.

For your audition please prepare a 1-minute (32 bars) audition song.  Bring sheet music in your preferred key.  Please have the sheet music in a three-ring binder with Beginning and Ending points marked clearly.  No a cappella.  An accompanist will be provided. Also dress accordingly (or bring a change of clothes/shoes) for choreography auditions.

ALT will be holding auditions for the following roles for SISTER ACT:

Character Descriptions (Character ages are listed. Actor ages may differ.)

All roles are open and available, with opportunities for multi-ethnic casting.

Deloris  Van Cartier -  Lead, mezzo-soprano, 20-35, loud, brash would-be night club singer. Requires good voice, good movement, and great comic timing. Played in the movie by Whoopi Goldberg.

Eddie - Lead, tenor, 20-35, sweet, nervous policeman who wants to be confident and brave. In love with Deloris

Curtis­ - Lead, baritone, 25-45, tough gangster night club owner. Deloris' man.

Mother Superior - Lead, mezzo-soprano, 37-70, firm, but fair nun, dignified and lady-like.

Sister Mary Robert - Lead, soprano, 17-25, young, innocent postulant, shy and quiet, but with a good belt.

Monsignor O'Hara - Featured, baritone, 40-70, gentle, kind, but bored. Uninspired preacher.

Sister Mary Patrick - Featured, soprano-mezzo-soprano, 18-30. Fun and enthusiastic nun, larger than life character, enjoys food.

Sister Mary Lazarus - Featured, mezzo-soprano, 45-65, older, crabby choir mistress, snappy and grumpy, has to " rap ".

Joey - Featured, tenor, 20-50, one of Curtis' thugs, gentle giant, wants to please and be dangerous, too. Good solo.

T. J - Featured, tenor, 18-25, Curtis' young nephew, goofy, needs good comic timing.

Pablo - Featured, tenor, 20-45, one of Curtis' thugs, speaks Spanish, thinks he's a "love-god".

Michelle and Tina - Featured, mezzo-sopranos, 20-30, Deloris' nightclub back-up singers, must sing and dance, also play nuns.

Female ensemble - A wide variety of character types and ages who can sing and hold harmony and have a good time to play the nuns and other featured roles. All vocal ranges.( need 12 women)

Male ensemble - A variety of types to play everything from night club back-up singers to policemen, late teens and up. Some men with the right vocal range may double as nuns. (Need 8 men)

Tentative first read-through will be on Sunday, January 14 at 6PM

SISTER ACT will perform from MARCH 9-31, 2018

Curtain is at 7:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:00 PM on Sundays. There will also be at Thursday performance on March 22, and Saturday matinees on March 17 and March 31.

Rehearsals are typically Sunday through Thursday evenings 6:30 PM-9:30 PM (Some Saturdays may be included.)
