ARIZONA CHEF/AUTHOR DEBUTS BOOK ON SW ARTIST 4:00 PM SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9, AT PAGE ONE

Arizona author Nikos Ligidakis, who once was a chef and restaurant owner, will be at Page One Books 4:00 pm Saturday, December 9, to talk about and sign his non-fiction artist effort, "The Power of His Brush: The Evolution of R.C. Gorman."

The book is described as such: "'Who is R.C. Gorman?' He is a Native American who wanted to live the American Dream. The poor kid from the reservation who wanted a better life, to supersede the temporary darkness with the bright lights. He succeeded, in fact, he did it in a white man’s world. He did it with unwavering determination, consistent vision and of course, his immense talent. Nevertheless, as a newborn child, he wasn’t expected to leave the hospital alive. The world would not know about R.C. Gorman if wasn’t for the unusual nourishment of his great grandmother that kept him alive."

Ligidakis, award-winning author, has written nine books, including "The Last Mission" set during World War II; a culinary book, "5024 E. McDowell, A Man’s Journey Into Culinary Exploration and My Private Collection of Pieces of Art, Dessert Recipes Of A Master;" "Power and Defiance, The Human Struggle for Social Justice;" and "The Extraordinary Life of Bill O’Brien, An Ordinary Arizona Irish Cowboy." He has been a chef, restaurateur, and humanitarian who has helped to feed Arizona’s homeless with his ‘Thanksgiving Project”. Each year for 21 years, Nick would close his busy restaurant the week prior to Thanksgiving to prepare and cook mounds of food in order to serve the 20,000-30,000 on Thanksgiving Day. He currently lives in Scottsdale, AZ.

Page One Books is located at 5850 Eubank Blvd NE, Suite B-41, in Albuquerque's Mountain Run Shopping Center (southeast corner of Eubank and Juan Tabo). The Ligidakis event is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 294-2026 or visit www.page1book.com.
