Last heard at Outpost in 2013, Circuit Rider features three like minded, genre-defying musical masters – trumpeter, Ron Miles; guitarist Bill Frisell and drummer Brian Blade. Classified as “Modern Jazz Chamber music at it’s best,” Circuit Rider combines the “singing melodicism of American folk music, the heightened communication of progressive jazz, and an entrancing, airy openness, all with an easy camaraderie and virtuosic interaction.” Based in Denver, CO, trumpeter and cornetist, composer, arranger and educator, Ron Miles has created a musical output of astonishing versatility and depth. “Connecting African American blues and gospel roots to the tangled branches of contemporary genre-bending jazz with rare perceptiveness” (The Guardian), Miles has released more than fifteen recordings including his latest, I Am A Man (2017) named after the civil rights-era proclamation. One of the most sought-after guitar voices in contemporary music, Bill Frisell’s collaborations with John Zorn, Paul Motian, Ron Carter. Elvis Costello, Ginger Baker, The Los Angeles Philharmonic, Suzanne Vega, Loudon Wainwright III, and numerous others is a testament to his singular guitar conception and musical versatility. His role as composer and bandleader in numerous of his own ensembles has garnered him ever increasing fame. A multi-talented artist widely respected in the jazz world as drummer/composer/leader, Brian Blade is known for his group, The Fellowship Band, as well as for his work with many heroes of the music world, including Daniel Lanois, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Seal. A member of the Wayne Shorter Quartet with Danilo Perez and John Patitucci since 2000, he also recently released his first recording as a singer, guitarist, songwriter entitled, Mama Rosa. This is a Special Jazz Club Style Outpost Benefit Concert. Limited Seating.
