Dwelling in Possibility

Adrian Toto thing

Bob Horner, the late stepfather of local artist Adrian Toto, was a man of complexity, who lent Toto many insights on life. A 40-year veteran of Ohio's steel mills with a suitably tough exterior, in his personal life, Horner was also a poet who was deeply interested in mysticism and philosophy. “I wasn't prepared to understand the deeper parts of him when he was still alive, but I'm finally at a point where I'm ready to look at those things,” Toto said. And so, in a solo exhibition, what one dwells upon, at Small Engine Gallery (1413 Fourth Street SW) he explores the life of his stepfather through installation work. The exhibition opens Friday, Feb. 9, with a reception running between 6 and 10pm.
