Judy Liddell speaks on how specific species of birds respond to climate change.

Central New Mexico Audubon Society March program meeting with speaker Judy Liddell. To test how specific species are responding to climate change, teams of Audubon members from chapters across the U.S. have been conducting twice yearly point counts in specific locations to document the numbers of bluebirds and nuthatches present. Starting January 2016, CNMAS was among the first chapters to join the effort, initially tallying Eastern, Western and Mountain Bluebirds. When nuthatches were added as target species, additional teams were recruited to tally White-breasted, Red-breasted and Pygmy Nuthatches. Please join us to hear Judy Liddell, who has coordinated this effort, and learn more about each of these species, their habitat needs, and what the projections are for central New Mexico.
