Man's Best Friend
In these creepy days of autonomous swarming drones, gray goo and killer robots, it's nice to see someone using technology to make something pleasant—like art and novelty. This Saturday and Sunday, April 21 from 10am to 6pm and April 22 from 11am to 5pm, inventors, crafters and DIY technofreaks converge on the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum to show off their strange and beautiful modern artifacts. The seventh annual Mini-Maker Faire welcomes curious onlookers of all ages to marvel with the electric wizards. Tickets start at $5 for kids and $10 for adults. (Joshua Lee)

Maker Faires showcase lots of cool folks and their projects as they discuss their processes and teaching skills with the public.
Now entering it’s SEVENTH YEAR, Albuquerque Mini Maker Faire is a cross between state fair and science fair. Maker Faires are held all over the world and showcase lots of cool folks showing their projects, discussing their process, and teaching skills. We try to get inventors, artists, artisans, techies, and craftspeople to bring their work out of their basements, workshops, labs and garages and show them to the public. We encourage education, sharing of ideas and approaches, and building connections between everyone in the maker (and larger) community.
“Makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.
Albuquerque Mini Maker Faire is organized and produced by the non-profit New Mexico New Makers, which seeks to both stage the event and build community and connections within the maker community of New Mexico.
Maker Faire originated in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a project of the editors of Make: magazine. It has since grown into a significant worldwide network of both flagship and independently-produced events.
