Smitten with luxurious textiles at a young age, artist Marcia Petty has worked for decades to develop her style and techniques for hand painting, shibori and other treatments on silk and other natural fibers. Her diverse body of work will be displayed from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday, May 4, at Hip Stitch, 2320 Wisconsin NE, as part of the May ARTSCrawl program.

Since moving to the Southwest about 15 years ago, Marcia has worked almost exclusively with dyework. In addition to silk painting, she also uses shibori, deconstructed screen printing, stamping and monoprinting to create her original work on silk, cotton, rayon and bamboo. Her exhibit will include custom yardage, scarves, wall hangings, some quilted work and wearable art.  See more of her work at http://marciapetty.blogspot.com/
